Recruitment
Postdocs
ONE FULLY FUNDED POSTDOCTORAL POSITION focusing on the neurogenomics of behavior and speciation is available (see here).
We have several existing datasets that could be used to power additional postdoc positions (e.g., long-read data we’d like to use for some pangenomics and work with structural variants) so please get in touch if any other aspects of our work interest you (see most recent publications for inspiration)!
In addition, we are always interested in helping postdocs obtain independent fellowships. Some examples are listed below:
For US citizens and permanent residents, the NSF PFRB.
For US and non US-citizens, the Life Sciences Research Foundation.
For European citizens, the Marie Curie Global postdoc fellowship.
graduate students
We are always interested in recruiting graduate students as well. In general, the application deadline for the E3B program at Columbia is early Dec. Well suited candidates are those that are self-motivated and have an interest in animal behavior, speciation, neurobiology, molecular biology and/or bioinformatics. Please get in touch for more information and include a CV and one page letter of motivation (ked2195@columbia.edu). We are always interested in helping students obtain independent fellowships including, for example, the NSF GFRP.
undergrad students
We are also always happy to have undergraduate students join our team. They usually begin assisting someone else with an existing project and that project can be anywhere from molecular lab work to field work and/or bioinformatics depending on the time of year and the students interest. If interested please get in touch (ked2195@columbia.edu) and in your email answer the following questions:
Name, major and expected graduation date.
Relevant coursework and grades.
If you’ve spent time in any other labs.
Why you are interested in joining our lab.
Where you’d like to go in the future.
